It must be terrible to achieve one's dreams in life with so much life left to live.

I imagine everything else must be a let-down after this.

Good Luck!!

And, surprisingly, that's the feeling that remains with me after all these years, even though I had the good fortune to win in my first episode before being defeated in my second.

13. What is "The tryout is just the first step"?

That's the correct response (question) to the answer, "What would-be contestants need to remember."

I tried out and qualified twice, but in neither season did I get on the show. They qualify many more people than they need, so that they have flexibility in making up the composition of each show. (They try to balance various demographic factors so that viewers can find someone to root for, or against.)

I think different tryouts may have different formats. When I did it there was a trivia quiz (and you don't have to put your responses in the form of a question). Then there was a "personality" component -- they interview you and/or play a short mock game, without keeping score, just to get an idea of how you'll be on camera. If you get something like that, try to relax and come across as a fun person without going too far and trying too hard. I know, "relax" when your lifelong dream is at hand is easier advice to give than to take, but I think it improves your chances. There are lots of people out there who know which king signed the Magna Carta so it's not enough to clobber the trivia test.

Good luck!

Knowledge is only part of winning. So many people blow it because they don't know how to bet in the final.

Good luck!

I did it a few years ago. I was on the list for about a year before they called me. But you stay on it for 18 months, then you can try out again.

I even won one game. My only regret is that I won't be able to do it again.

Good luck.

Apparently you are not Canadian. Jeopardy does not allow smart folks for up North to participate.
