Expecting another foot of snow before any of that gets started... but the Sandhill Cranes are back already and the Red Winged Blackbirds came back in mid Feb. But we still have a good 3' of snow sitting.

I planted dozens of bulbs last fall and can't wait to see them bloom. I had some crocus and daffodils blooming last week before the cold snap in PA.

Spring meant sleeping with the window open at night, and waking to the smell of honeysuckle drifting in through the window.

On warm nights, the neighbor's cat would jump up on my window sill and start meow-ing. He couldn't get in because of the screen, but he would sound off a few times (we could barely see him, since he was black against the black night), and then hop off the sill and lope along somewhere. To hunt, I guess.

They always make me happy every year when I see them. A big field of then just takes my breath away, especially when they are mixed with those neon Indian Paintbrush.

I'm a gardener and it's always a thrill to see those first tender shoots push up through the dirt.
