She can sleep on my keyboard any day.

My fifteen-pounder likes to do that, too. Every now and then I have to take my laptop out to the Apple Store and have them vacuum out the cat fur.

Since you spend so much time on your computer, that is as close as he/she can get

BTW...as a kid I thought all dogs were male and all cats female...FELINE..FEMALE

Even today I want to call every kitty I see as a she.

Are most orange cats male? I knew 2 male orange cats, one with 6 toes

There were very few years in my life when at least one, and sometimes 3 owned me...and I DID.NOT.KNOW.

Thanks for the link and the education!

About 5 males to every orange female. Male calicos are far more rare because the mutant calico gene, which is recessive, is found on the female X chromosome. So male calicos are XXY.

With cats, male calicos are usually sterile. Don't know if they have other problems.

I had non fixed kittys who were rather large and hung on the top of the couch when I had male visitors, (and the males were intimidated) and the kitty jumped on my legs when I walked down the hall...

Well, my mom called me kitty?

But the gene for orange/non-orange coloring is always on the X chromosome. Females normally have two X chromosomes but males have one X and one Y. Since the Y chromosome does not have any locus for the orange/non-orange gene, it's not possible for a male to have both orange and non-orange genes together, which is what is needed to be calico. Only those rare males with two X chromosomes can be calico because then they can be both orange and non-orange.

after a few years. I had to explain to the cable guy what happened because he had never seen the cable box broken like that before. The new box is too small for Twilight to sit on so she has moved to my laptop. Sometimes she is even faster to sit on it than the Screensaver.

doing an adorable little kitty thing. It always amazes how all cats seem to do the same silly things. I think they have a form of communication that we don't know about.

The meanest cat in the world is too respectful to sit on top of mine but she loves to sit right by the exhaust vents.
