(19,360 posts)When did the band split up? You still playing in any other projects?

(10,129 posts)then I ended up in a couple different projects with the singer... sadly, he died from diabetes in 2009 while we were working together in a band called Medicine Wheel, and I haven't really done much of anything since...

(19,360 posts)I took about six years off when my kids were in school, got back into it about a year ago. You never know what the future holds.
I photographed a (then) new band called Medicine Wheel back in the late 90s. Might have been at a place called The Red Roof Pub in Lakewood Wa. If I look through my collection, it is likely I still have their cd. Odds are not high that this was the same band but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.

(10,129 posts)Well, mostly... that version split up around 2000 - but the original drummer, bassist and guitarist reformed it in 2005 with my old singer Nick (he had been in bands with them before I worked with him) and I joined a few months after that.

What a small world! I communicate here with a retarded smart-phone so I can not see the band depicted in your post above. You also mentioned the loss of a singer a couple years back, we lost Gruntruk's Ben MaCmillan(sp?) back about then. I believe he may have passed away due to diabetes complications too. This all took place after I got out of the local industry.
Btw I am back in it again, this time from a whole different angle. My kid's boyfriend is the genius behind this stage and it's light-painting technology. We just finished rebuilding and painting it and shipped it off to Pittsburgh where it linked up with a band on tour for the summer. Here is the Lucid Technology and Design's promo and our stage in action:

(10,129 posts)Good to hear you're back in the scene though... I met far, far too many flakes and idiots in that business, and not nearly enough good guys like you. Last I saw you, you were working on a coffee table book, focused on the Tacoma area bridges - Bridges of Destiny maybe? - did that project ever come to fruition? I always wanted to get a copy of it

(10,558 posts)Dude, my heart is hurting, Nick...
.... for years, I have said getting old is better than the alternative....somedays I think I might be wrong with that notion. You, know, I can still see him with that condom/hat and a microphone in his hand, still smiling. NICK ALWAYS SMILED! You guys would pick on him mercilessly too, (well not you so much but Mark and Ron did), and yet Nick kept right on with the positive attitude. It's gonna be a while before i'll be able to listen to Tunnel Vision.
Look, I am blown away that I am talking to you, that you are a fellow DUer is ....well I am at loss for words to say the least. I do very much want to chat more but I think I want to sign off for now and head down to my local bar and have a drink in Nick's honor. I won't lose your number, that's a promise!
chris.
