1. alligators can move really fast

this guy was lucky it wasn't hungry.

2. I was wondering about that.

I don't know if it's a sustained run or a short ambush run, "get next to him for size"....

3. alligators are supposed to run quite a distance at a fast clip. but

they really slow down turning, so to escape from an alligator on land you are supposed to run zig zag if your terrified mind can remember.
I went to a swamp in Georgia that had signs up all over the place with their tons of alligators - they were everywhere, anyway the signs kept reminding people to run zigzag because if we ran straight, they would get us.
