It's not often a video puts the hook in me like this one has.

An old metal band, Disturbed, has taken an already great classic Simon and Garfunkel song and made it into something magnificent. David Draiman himself was in tears after he left the recording booth and listened to the playback, as was everyone else there.

If you've listened to this one before, cool. If not, trust me on this one. It'll stick to you.

That was truly unexpected. What a voice. Tremendous orchestration and the video was epic. Thank you for sharing that.

when the music stops and you can almost hear the audience picking themselves up off the floor. It loses nothing when they do it live.

...is interesting, but not groundbreaking. This song was so good in its original form that nothing or nobody could make it bad. Or so I thought.

Simon & Garfunkle were writing for a non-violent generation who preferred thought-provoking lyrics and metaphors to the 'in your face' belligerence that this cover offers up...

"Something Magnificent"????.....something disturbing is more like it.

The song started out to just blow me away but then it bothered me because it was not the peaceful beautiful experience of the original version. To each his own, I didn't end up listening to it more than once, but remembered that I found my reaction to the song interesting.

Maybe I will listen again later. The word 'disturbed' best describes why I stopped listening after the first time.

But also love S&G's version.

Both are powerful to me.

My son played this for me about a week ago. I was a little worried when he told me about it, but they did it proud. Another cover that rocks IMO is Shinedown's version of " Simple man " Check it out....

I've enjoyed some of Disturbed's earlier stuff but then they got too much of that "Metal for Missouri kids" sound that I can't stand; you know -- that Shinedown, Staind, Papa Roach, Godsmack, Drowning Pool type of artless, horrid, earfucking bullshit.

This cover was very, very good, however.

Well chosen!
