I was always very moved by this version by Paul Potts on Britain's Got Talent from 2009

He's no Luciano Pavarotti, but he's very good and it comes as a complete surprise to everyone there.

Also, at the 2:00 mark, he sounded like Mike Oldfield.

Now, what do you think of this guy?

He doesn't get much airplay here, except on public stations.

Here's another one that represents his rock-guitar style:

I don't own anything by Beck, yet do appreciate his artistry with the guitar. And no, I didn't know you played guitar. I have almost no music background, save marching band. I have managed to teach myself how to do throat singing, but I'd have to sing with someone who can stay in key as I have no ear for that.

Now, what about Andrian Belew, and Robert Fripp? Fripp is so professional he's more like a fine-artist than just a rock guitarist. But Belew goes avant garde and still makes it listenable and mesmerizing

Thanks! You have great taste, too

I wished I'd gone to see King Crimson when they toured in the 80s, but the opportunity passed me by for some reason. I did get to see Bill Bruford when he toured with his solo band, so that was cool. And wasn't Fripp with Peter Gabriel on one of his tours? I think I saw him at the one Gabriel concert I saw, along with Larry Fast (Synergy) on keyboards.

Progressive and Art Rock have produced some amazing guitarists, and in a way, I'm glad they don't get commercial airplay

How about Steve Howe? And yes.... Fripp did tour with Peter on the first tour that he did without
Genesis.

or buy their albums, but had plenty of friends who did, and I did enjoy their music. His guitar-work is just not coming to mind. I'll look him up on YT. Although, after looking up Asia I thought I had their first album, and he's the guitarist of that group.

Genesis, I got to see them before Gabriel left, so Bill Bruford was still with them. Amazing show with these gimbaled mirrors hanging above the stage. It allowed the audience to see all of Bruford's set, though they did use it for the light-show, too.

And then there's Steve Vai
