This afternoon it was 96 F with 94% humidity. That puts the heat index around 106.

How the hell does any sane person live down here?!?

3. Driving thru a school zone, 15 mph, I recall the cool shadows of the telephone poles on my face

True story, I had a VW van in AZ, no air. I got feet blisters that day from walking on a sidewalk. Stopped at every quick mart to stare at beer cooler for the cold floor effect, still got blisters. Big storm came in, temp dropped 40 degrees, took off for Oregon. Was sad to see those telephone poles had blown over. Got on US 60 at Ironwood and headed towards Phoenix. Tumbleweeds in a bunch bigger than a VW bug passed me on the left hugging the divider. By the time I got to Phoenix it was 30 degrees warmer again. 110° at 10 AM in Vegas. Damn, was it ever great to arrive in Oregon.

6. Some things you just can't make up, you have to feel them to realize how scortching it is.

Driving a big tin can in the sun with a hot combustion engine, thankfully behind you, when it is 115° in the shade, window down heading north, sun blasting your face at 5 PM, you think you got it good because you are moving, unlike the 70-year-old AZ Native who R&R'ed your engine and changed the clutch and rear engine bearings working all day outside in the shade. Unforgettable, AZ has got that much.

On edit: That should be extra pints to me.

That said, other than our seated govt...Michigan isn't all bad.
