I still have a few hoops I have to jump through, but I have a conditional job offer.

I have to pass a physical, a drug test, and a driving test. Basically, standard stuff for a truck driving job. I also have to pass a physical abilities test. From the description of it, it sounds like they just want to make sure my back is okay. I'm going to orientation on Monday. If all goes well, I should be on the road by Thursday.

I didn't think I'd ever have to get back on the road again like that. It's not my ideal position. But it will pay the bills and it might be better for my soul than what I was doing or what I thought I wanted to do. One benefit to DU is that if you like my Stories from the Road series, it might be back.

While you are driving you can continue looking.

I know one truck driver who is on his 6th job over the past 11 months. The last company closed it's doors while he was waiting for his paycheck.

Since you'll be giving up yard work.

Sorry Jen, I couldn't resist.

When they kicked me in the can there wasn't anyone there available to do that job, and out the door I went.

the shit that people say about my farm makes my life a disney movie where i am the wicked witch.
former friends all swallowing it, and passing it along.
the fact that i was cleared in court doesnt seem to mean diddly.

thank dawg for all my fans, tho. make the whole mess worthwhile. plus, it has made me kinda famous, at least in the hood.

I know you'll pass all those tests--you've done them all before.

I'm relieved too, that this job showed up so quickly.

Or unpredictable hours and destinations?

While we might enjoy more "road" stories, I bet the SO would more appreciate "kitchen table" stories.

Good luck, and congratulations on having money flowing in again.
