He sat on my right, another person on my left, as we waited for the little model train to bring us delicious little dishes of stuff. I cautioned the attorney (a bit of a know-it-all) that that green paste was not to be trifled with, and he said, "Oh, I like hot stuff." I warned him again and turned my attention to the person on my left. A couple of moments later, from behind, I heard him gasp in pain and surprise, having apparently daubed the wasabi rather liberally on his California roll.

and the one newbie jumped the gun exclaiming "Oh, I love avocado!" and popped the whole damn thing in her mouth. Too fast for anyone to stop her. The guy sitting next to her actually tried to physically block her arm from going up to her mouth but he was too slow.

We still think it's funny. She still does not.

Advancements in data storage and communications are mostly driven by the quest to enable the greatest number of people to laugh at the stupidity of others.

But I'm kind of a cynic.

...scornful of or sorry for people who are that stupid.

The first time I had wasabi, I took rather too large a bite and thought my eyes were going to wash right out of their sockets. Up the nose must be absolutely brutal. I must admit I laughed.

The fact being I don't eat raw fish or meat being the first. And yes, I have tried it and I don't like it at all. Japanese cuisine is not my thing. I love Chinese and Thai.

You know Japanese cuisine is more than just Sushi. There a many, many other kinds of Japanese dishes. For example:

Miso soup
Soba Noodles
Zaru Soba
udon
Yaki Udon
Chashu Ramen Noodle soup
Gomaae
Gyoza
Yaki Tori
Tempura
Chicken Karage
Hamah Kama
Takoyaki
Oyako Don
Katsu Don
Chicken Teriyaki
Beef Sukiyaki
Salmon Teriyaki
Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura
Tonkatasu
Unagi Don
Yosenabe
Saba Shioyaki

Just to name a few. I don't know where you live, but many Japanese restaurants are springing up all over the country, and not all of them need serve sushi, or sashimi. Nothing wrong with eating Chicken Teriyaki or Shrimp Tempura, ...unless you just HATE ALL things
Japanese.

I love Anime, and have a high regard for Japanese culture in general. If I offended you, I apologize, that was not my intention.

Finding a real Japanese restaurant and trying other kinds of dishes. There is plenty of hot food served at these places. Udon is big favorite among many people. Mostly because there are so many types of Udon.

or try Okonomiyaki

its a fact that though Sushi is popular here and Japan, everyday Japanese only have sushi once a month. It is considered more of treat to be savored. Most of the time, they are simply happy to have rich or noodle dishes, such as home made Ramen or Udon.
