(102,233 posts)I heard an intervieww piece on the music Olympic athletes were using to motivate them in training. Ugggh... lots of the crappiest rap and other genres with no real sustained rhythm, no melody--virtually no musicality and certainly no inspiring lyrics--some of it creepy violent... I googled recently to see how they'd done in the Olympics and of the three I'd heard interviewed--no medals, btw. Hmmm

(12,336 posts)I also remember "Beaker Street" on the "Mighty 1090, KAAY" from Little Rock, Arkansas of all places. I sometimes wonder in ol' Bill Clinton listened to that show while not inhaling his joint.
Over the air radio is a wasteland now.

(8,308 posts)Rock radio entered a new era on Feb. 18, 1973, when the King Biscuit Flower Hour debuted on FM stations across the U.S. The innovative Sunday night series featured recorded concerts and interviews with rocks biggest stars. King Biscuit would expand its reach to more than 300 stations before it ceased weekly production of new shows in 1993. Reruns continued until 2007.
