National Handbag Day It’s no secret that many women love handbags, sometimes perhaps a little too much, but who would have thought that it would ever get to the point where an entire day of the year would be put aside especially for handbags to be celebrated in all their glory? Well, believe it or not, Handbag Day exists, and real people actually do take some time out of their day to celebrate it and pay tribute to their beloved collection of handbags as well as all those they wish they could afford. It is a day when women talk about handbags…even more than usual, both on the Internet, through blogs, and in real life with friends. It is a day where the greatest designs and designers are discussed and celebrated. And also a day through which the purchase of a new handbag, or bags, for the more extravagant, can be justified and needs no explanation. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/handbag-day/

World Homeless Day World Homeless Day was born out of discussions between aid workers around the world, all of whom were helping the homeless in their own countries. The aim and slogan of the Day is ‘locals act locally on a global day’. The emphasis is on giving hands-on aid that is sensitive to local needs, while being aware of the global problem of homelessness and feeling solidarity with other charity workers around the world. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-homeless-day/

World Mental Health Day World Mental Health Day was established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health. In some countries around the world, it forms just one part of the larger Mental Illness Awareness Week. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-mental-health-day/

World Porridge Day Porridge, it so happens, is the traditional national dish of Scotland, and has been keeping the people of this country healthy for hundreds of years. Every year in the Scottish Highland Village of Carrbridge a competition is held, the World Porridge Making Championship, to determine the porridge champion who best exemplifies the flavor and experience of this food. But the Scots have always been known for having a progressive world view and to care deeply about people everywhere, and as such Carrbridge has come together with Mary’s Meals (https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/) to help provide rich nourishing porridge to children all over the world. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/porridge-day/

It was first recorded by Ben Franklin in his lesser-known but still famous Porridges' Almanack.

True fact.
