OK--I won't reveal the great Surprise Ending of tonight's episode. But after all these years, I'm almost never surprised anymore by Surprise Endings. I've seen 'em all, and generally guess 'em all. But this just totally blew me away. Add to that the sheer perfection of every aspect of this series--the line-by-line perfect dialogue, the sheer manic gusto of the series, and of course the total Platonic perfection of the cast--Martin *and* Benedict, and everyone else...well, I haven't enjoyed 90 minutes of TV so much in a long time...

(37,997 posts)IMHO, OT, the plot of the episode was a not-so-subtle commentary on a certain orange person.

I thought last week (4.1) was disappointing, almost by ring, and I had solved most of its puzzles along the way; no big surprises. Tonight's episode (4.2) is really different and shows that there are different writers, directors, etc. involved.
I had only a hint of the final twist. Thought this was one of the better episodes, need to watch again because there was a lot going on everywhere.
Agree there seemed to be a lot of social commentary being made.
I think there are allusions to both Jimmy Savile and to Trump.

(12,595 posts)I read all the Sherlock Holmes books, etc. But, that was years and year ago. I have tried some of the other Sherlockfilms thru the years and could never get interested in them. I look forward to trying these.
I trust DU's opinion!!
