It's been a long time here at DU since I've last felt like writing any words of courage, strength or sadness or even anger.

I'm not okay. None of us are.

But the truth is, I've nothing left to say. And I've reached the point where I'm certain there's no more that I will say.

Since Trump started, I've resigned myself to tempered observation. But now, there's nothing left to say.

To those I lifted, to those who liked me at all, I say that I'm thankful. But I've got no purpose left here. No dog in the fight.

And this pain of mine today, is deeper than politics. I am spiritually and mentally wounded.

If you could just turn off politics and focus on the things that make you happy, perhaps it would help (I know, easier said than done).

Maybe you could post more about your Great Dane's high jinks? Dog knows, we all need something to smile about. My dog is my touchstone to all that is good and right in this world. And for some reason, she really likes my morning breath!

I understand the frustration, the pain, the feeling of helplessness in the face of unbelievable
stupidity, meanness, and bigotry on the part of voters in this country who put us in the position
of Republicans about to be in control of all three branches of government. We're all feeling it.

We need your voice. We need your presence. We need to help each other out, now,
to get through this darkness. Please hang in there with us. Be quiet for awhile if it helps. Laugh and
enjoy your dogs. Get up early and watch the sunrise. Or peek outside when the sun is setting.
Go out and watch the moon rise. Learn a new joke every day and post it. Find a poem that speaks to you
and share it with us.

Please don't go silent.

We love you, retrowire.

I don't post much so you probably don't recognize my name but, even as a stranger, I am asking you not to go.

I don't know the right words to say. Just hoping another voice in the crowd might make you reconsider.

had a FIERCE and UGLY Chihuahua, the most unpleasant little demon ever, and she loved that beast to high heaven. When I visited, the beast wouldn't let me out of one chair and one chair only and had to be picked up by the cousin when I was arriving and leaving. The next time we saw each other she was all upset and sure I would be too, informing me that her beloved beast had died. I did the condolences thing with as little sincerity as I could muster. Months later another relative told me that the cousin had tried out another little dog but that she just couldn't warm up to it. It probably wasn't MEAN enough!!!1

No, mine are timid and well behaved. The female is high maintenance and loves to have a bath. The male is just a dude, does what he wants and otherwise, when he has tasks assigned, just goes along like saying "whatever." He also hides when it's bath time, and he always KNOWS without anything being said.

It didn't go as you hoped.

Welcome to reality.

I used to joke to my friends that I shouldn't vote, because the candidate I chose always lost.

Until Carter and later, Clinton.

But this is not my first election letdown.

Pull up your big boy britches and keep on keepin on.

To address your current post of condescending nature.

When Bernie lost, I went forth and voted Hillary. When Hillary lost, I went through the emotions of anger and despair as many are. Others here have offered empathy and understanding, as well as a reminder of what really matters, unlike you.

Now that you're updated on the reality of the situation and my current mindset, I say....

Welcome to reality. Where some people are empathetic online, and others just insensitively tell people to pull up their "big boy britches".

You'll carry on now, I hope. Don't reply to this or speak to me any further. I don't care for you. I trust your britches have the fortitude to allow you the peace of mind to accept my manner towards you.

Stated as kindly as possible,
retrowire.
