The Discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamen. It's a fascinating, first-hand account of the events surrounding the find, written by the discoverer himself -- even before the excavation was complete.

It does capture the sense of excitement and awe Carter and his workers felt by the grandeur of the treasure. Highly recommended.

Check out "The Complete Tutankhamen" by Nicholas Reeves. It's an exhaustive survey of the tomb's contents, with many color photos of the tiniest objects that had never been photographed before.
