she meant so much to us "gals of certain age"

you just didn't see independent women that much on TV, and certainly not weekly (Nichelle Nichols playing Uhura was my other favorite, long with Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty)

He went to high school with life long friend Don Adams and served on a submarine tender ship, the USS Proteus, in the Navy during WWII with Tony Curtis.

"Future actors Tony Curtis – whose birth name was Bernard Schwartz – and Larry Storch were aboard Proteus at Tokyo Bay in August–September 1945 – and watched much of the formal surrender activities aboard USS Missouri from Proteus's signal bridge"

Hell, if they were smart, they would have spun off Maynard G. Krebs and cousin Jerome into another TV show, but apparently Michael J. Pollard was just to quirky for the writers.

are still living.

John Astin had a long career as an actor and then taught drama for many years at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He may still. He's 86.

Lisa Loring is 58. She was on a soap for a few years. She's had 4 marriages (including one for 5 years to 80s porn star Jerry Butler) and had a heroin addiction in her 30s.

Sherry Jackson is 74. She retired from acting in 1980.

Angela Cartwright is 64. She only had occassional cameos since the 80s. She's now a professional photographer.

Rusty Hamer, who played their brother, was never able to get a career going as an adult. He killed himself in 1990 at age 42.
