my brother's dog is so damn smart...

I'm living with my brother & sister-in-law. I have a room off the garage. It is nice panelled with a TV couch recliner & off the laundry room a bathroom. My brother and his wife exit through my room to get to their cars to go to work.

My brother leaves @ 5:30 & I usually talk to him for a couple of minutes. My sister-in-law leaves @ 7:45 I also talk to her & usually wake up for good about 8:30. The dog is left upstairs, she's not allowed downstairs (it has something to do with her having eaten a sock she got from the laundry room).

However this morning the dog pushed the door to the basement 10 minutes after my sister-in-law's exit. She began nudging me & head butted me. I got up & felt light headed. I took my blood sugar and it was low 56. I took a glucose tablet and it rose to an acceptable 98.

The dog honestly has not left my side all day.
She also got 2 milk bones as a reward.

I know a woman who told me her dog woke her in the middle of the night when her little boy was slipping into a diabetic coma. She told me the dog saved his life.

I am glad you're feeling better.

He woke him up in the middle of the night when his blood sugar was dropping to critical levels. The same dog kept nudging the wife and wouldn't stop. Shortly afterward, she had tests that disgnosed her colon cancer. Animals can do amazing things that we are just learning about. They can anticipate seizures before they begin and alert the person so they can sit down or get to a safe place. Anecdotal stories about this amazing ability these animals possess have been around for a long time, but finally we are realizing that they are true.

Getting used to only having to wash 9 toes. Been having low blood sugars fairly, so having to adjust my insulin will see my Doctor next week and see if she has any ideas of what we should do.

Just glad to being able to be back on DU

I had to call a cousin to come and get me. The cat came and stood on my chest and meowed in my face to wake me up. I started to say the cat's name but my water broke right then.

No matter where I went both my dog and my cat were right next to me. And I mean they were so close to me that they were in constant contact with my body. If I sat down, they sat with me leaning on me. If I walked they walked with me also leaning somewhat into me. They never did that again after that. Or before for that matter.

I know it was because they knew I was about to give birth. I think they were determined to help me through it.
