(12,132 posts)I'm looking at 11 as best along with everyone else however I'm perfectly happy with 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14 and 15.
I've been known to send bread back to be properly toasted. Steaks can be rare but bread needs to be brown.
At breakfast diners I almost always get rye toast though.

(15,805 posts)I seldom use plain white bread other than a real good sourdough, and that would look something like 15. Mostly I like varieties of rye, multigrain, and the rustic artisanal breads with added herbs, nuts, fruit or veggie bits, cheese, and I toast them darker, probably a 14, or even a 10 of the above scale. Did I mention butter...
