Questions for People Who Don't Have Cats

1: What does a live mouse look like? All I ever see are parts of dead ones.

2: What do cold feet feel like in bed. I have no idea.

3. My cat Zooks

He used to lay above my head. In the winter it was awesome because he kept my head warm. He gave pretty good head massages too.

These days I have no pets.

4. Also, how does it feel to be able to walk to the bathroom at night

13. I'd just like to go to the bathroom without company

My cat thinks I need supervision. Every single time no matter what hour of the day or night.

14. Me, too. Sometimes all three of them show up.

There is a cat rule that says no human may use a bathroom unless accompanied by at least one cat.

5. I don't have a cat

But an orange tabby has taken upon itself to sleep on my lap when I take a nap on my deck. He scrambles up 20 feet to get to me.

No collar and no neighbors for 200 yards, so I am assuming he's a stray. He's well fed. Plenty of woods for him to hunt in.

I may start letting him in the house.

Kind of a pointy face. My son thinks he may be part bobcat.

7. You have a kitty.

But he isn't likely to be part bobcat; domestic cats and bobcats don't normally breed together. If he was a rare hybrid he wouldn't be friendly. He's just a cat with a pointy face. I have one of those. Enjoy the kitty.

8. Pointy faced kitties

usually have some Siamese in them, it's a classic shape for that kind of cat or similar breeds.

9. That was going to be my reply.

Their heads are rather like a triangle; they are lithe and more arboreal than other puddy-puts.

15. One of mine has a long, pointy nose.

He's a grey tabby but he has that loud yowly voice that could curdle gin. I'm sure he has a Siamese ancestor.

18. Post a picture of this kitty

I used to be owned by a very loud yowly grey tabby (Tabby). Was he reincarnated as your kitty?

(I don't have any Tabby pics online not behind a privacy filter unless you count my Etsy profile).

21. A very close resemblance!

Jeoffry is darker grey, and Tabby looks to have been a bit fluffier, but they both have that same long Siamesy nose. Jeoffry is probably the loudest cat in the world, especially when he's hungry, and it's not a meow, it's a YOWWWWW.

Kitties!

22. Was he born after 4/15/11?

Just curious-- that was when Tabby crossed the bridge and I'm not sure if I believe in reincarnation or not.

I called Tabby "Captain Loudmouth" and what I would not give to hear his loud meow just one more time. I wish I recorded it and made it a ringtone.

Tab was loudest in the car.

23. He's older than that so he probably isn't Tabby's reincarnation

but there could be another loud gray cat somewhere who is. Maybe I'll try to record Jeoffry.

25. Well, I took him to the vet

He's been "fixed" previously. And is about 1/2 bobcat, according to vet. 16 lean lbs was a tell. Along with dark spots and kind of jowelly-looking.

It's apparently a common mix in the mountains of NM, probably because the Apache semi-domesticated bobcats.

Got his shots. Not happy with me, but likes a small once-a-day mix of dry and wet food.

He did bring me a dead creature, some kind of rodent (I think a rabbit), in return for the food I give him. I thanked him profusely and got the shovel.

6. Ahem

1: I have a 7 month old Maltese. Not sure about mice but squirrel tale "tufts" are interesting. So are baby garter snakes.

2: I have a Calabrese husband. He's very furry. I dunno. But nothing beats puppy licks on toes.

11. Some live mice are kinda cute

If "cute" is the word I want. Can't think of the last time I described anything that way. Hmm.

A few years ago I lived in a dodgy apartment in a questionable neighborhood, in what I called "The Roach House". The place didn't just come with roaches, but (eventually) with mice and bedbugs. Fun times.

While I lived there, I had to take in my mother's cat while she was preparing a new house while trying to sell the old one. She couldn't have the cat in either place for... some reason or other.

Okay, I'll get to the point. The cat was with me during the period when my apartment picked up mice from one of the neighbors. He was adept at catching the things, but didn't know what to do with them once he caught them. He carried them around in his mouth and kept dropping them so he could poke and nudge them with a paw until they tried to flee, when he would catch them again. I took each mouse away from the cat and let it go outside, a block or so away from the building. One day we went on a mouse hunt, the cat and I, moving furniture so he could sniff out every crack and crevice. We caught three in one day, that way. Good times.

These were little hopping mice, and I suppose they were, as I said, cute. Cute, but stinky. Man, they smelled bad.

17. I have warm feet because...

I always have to keep them covered. If I don't, bitey bitey.

As for crawley critters, the meanest cat in the world saves all her hunt/attack talents for me.

And Wolverine makes a wonderful line of non-itchy wool socks.

(* Actually, maybe we do have a ton of mice. I know we got a ton of exterminators.)

26. What does a hairball look like? What does cat poop smell like?

Just kidding, if I wasn't away from home so much I would have a cat.

Just kidding, or am I?

28. I Just Thought of Another Question

What is it like to be able to sleep through the night, or day, without a cold wet nosey in your face followed by a hungry 'meow'.

29. how do you drink hot tea or coffee w/o one hair floating on top?

I made the mistake of giving the cats & dogs a teaspoon of coffee cream after I poured my mug. That was a big mistake when I had all 6 of them.
