I don't know what it is. I just don't like her. I don't think Sarah Silverman is funny either. No, it's not a anti woman thing.

(4,835 posts)She's kind of odd at times, but she digs up more complex stories than anyone else.
She's good to point out when something she's dug up could mean nothing.
I know what you mean though. I don't like Olbermann. Sometimes he's ok, but the hyperventilating is annoying.

(19,806 posts)That cultivate hyperventilation.
But Keith seems like a left wing Rush, and I don't think the world needs a left wing Rush.
That's just my opinion.

Still, I prefer a calm demeanor. That's why I like Rachael more than Keith, but to each his/her own.

I share most of their views, just don't think Rachel is a good news person and do not think Silverman is funny. Just sharing thoughts. No harm.

(60,010 posts)She is very good at explaining complex news to the average person.
In that respect, she IS a good news person for a lot of people.
I am much more visual, takes me just a few minutes to read that same news, so I prefer to do that.
Chris Mathews, OTOH, is unbearable to my ears, plus he interrupts his guests and loves his own voice way too much.
He is not my definition of a good news person, but then again, he is more of a commentator than news anchor.
so I avoid listening to him, problem solved.

(901 posts)making her point. However, I have to admit that she's overall able to break down complex stories and explain things in a very clear manner, which can be helpful for many people. Her popularity seems to be growing, too.

(52,791 posts)On some of these complicated money-laundering stories, a history of the situation is necessary to understand exactly what's going on.

(1,214 posts)don't like her show. I feel she takes to long to get to the point. I feel like I'm in a college lecture class when I watch her, I don't mind that once in awhile but I can't take it every night

(7,503 posts)like a weaver. she starts with one thread. She then adds another and another. Some that are easily bored might not care for it, but when she is done she has woven a tapestry. Probably the smartest reporter on television.

(27,803 posts)I think that she over-explains. Often I have already arrived where she's going long before she's actually there. I know it's her schtick, and that's fine. I watched last night and I pretty much enjoyed it, but I also came away with a sort of mash-up of Ivanka Trump's hotel video, the ugliness of the proposed Trump Tower, wondering how anyone ever gets there (not explained, really) and not enough information on the potential business partners.
I mostly enjoyed her interview with Adam Davidson. I like how she lets the subjects of her interviews talk for a long time.

(3,242 posts)all of the shows are fucking painful to watch but without Rachel and the rest where would we be? I will tell you; I am afraid they are going to start finding people like her dead in their trunks...would that pep you up a bit?

(32,634 posts)I find Rachel Maddow fascinating and usually I learn a lot from her show. Unfortunately I don't get to watch that often so maybe that's why she doesn't annoy me. If you practice your listening skills you might find her more interesting.
As an aside I'd like to mention that I find it very helpful to watch news commentary programs with the closed captions on. Rachel speaks very quickly and says a lot in a short time. So I find it easier to follow her by reading the captions, if I should miss something while she's talking. Give that a try and see if it makes a difference for you.

(54,365 posts)But when I'm in the States, I love watching her show. I like her style, her humor, and the way she builds up her stories. I met her once in person, and she seemed exactly the same way--funny, aware, and extremely smart.

(11,686 posts)I like her for the reason some do not like her is because of her long explanation before she gets to the actual story. I am not a history buff and am kind of slow on comprehending things and with her I always understand and comprehend. As far as funny I do not think she is trying to be funny it is just her sarcasm coming through making a point how stupid some of these people and situations are. Sarcasm is not for everybody and some either did not grow up with it or are to sensitive to it or just simply do not understand it. Rachel is one of the few who does not give in to what is only supposed to be told. She gets out there and tells it how it really is and is very blunt about it and some people do not like blunt.
Rachel is also in the top 10 most watched programs.

(16,377 posts)I've almost given up watching any news show at this point, although I still tune-in to RMS now and then. It is frustrating watching her. She repeats herself too many times in order to make a point as though we wouldn't understand unless she says the same thing in several different ways. It's redundant and annoying.
