The roads will be jammed. Wherever you're going, get there early...don't plan on driving on eclipse day. I suggest you get inland...less chance of overcast in August.

I saw a headline in the Oregonian (oregonlive.com) that said some guy was opening up his ranchland to campers. I imagine that it'll be hellish.

We are supposed to leave that morning to head east to drop a kid at college. Should be fun to drive through it.

Don't expect to find a campsite. It's just gonna be a big mess from hell.

If you can get inland to the Redmond area, you probably have a better chance of a clear sky.

Corvallis & Albany are nice but are likely to be packed with sky gazers, because they're right on I-5 and easy to get to.

Between Sweet Home and Redmond is the Willamette National Forest which is pretty rugged. Sisters (West of Redmond not on map) is nice too.

Have fun, and view responsibly!

They have great information on the exact path down to individual towns - start here: http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/every_community.htm

For Oregon, you can just go here: http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/states/OR.htm Then look for places where you can see the eclipse and click on the community for more details.

I can also recommend their eclipse glasses - http://www.eclipse2017.org/glasses_order.htm. Theirs are very reasonably priced and the delivery is very fast. They emailed me a couple of weeks ago to remind me about the safe viewing instructions so they really care about their followers.

Corvallis OR is just a few miles away from the totality center line. But it could be cloudy. I'll be rafting in central Oregon.
