Spring is here! The cherry blossoms bloom at Lake Balboa.

It's a beautiful event to witness at Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley in California. The flowers are lovely and the ducks are feisty!

2. American Coots

I was there recently too and there were so many American Coots (those black birds with the white beak). Also that black bird eating the fish is a cormorant.

There is a bird sanctuary in that area so a lot of birds visit at different time of years. I've seen egrets and pelicans there too.

Did you see the gophers there on one side of the lake? You can see the holes they dig all over the place.

There are also 2 duck sanctuaries on the lake.

This is an excellent place to go for a walk.

Thanks IcyPeas! We've always thought the American Coots were fascinating but didn't know that's what they were called. Next time we're there we'll try to find where the gophers hang out, we hadn't noticed that before. We love going for walks there too!
