I am sharing this with my DU pet lovers.
I had to make the dreaded decision to euthanize my cat Chloe diagnosed with kidney disease last Monday. I have had her some 18 years who was a stray who I took in and adopted she never left our side. She was a beautiful cat.
My daughters who were about 6 or 7 she was their first pet, now my girls have just celebrated their 21st birthdays.
I have been sort of MIA here on DU. Hardest thing to loose a pet.

(2,252 posts)...and the other equally important thing we must be able to do, though it is very difficult, is to give our companion animals a good death when the time comes.
You made the right decision.
My two dogs are resting on the back porch...I just went to give them each a cookie in memory of Chloe and as a reminder to myself of the responsibilities I have for them.

(17,246 posts)and one that should not be forgotten. Chloe's life could have been a whole lot less pleasant in so many other scenarios. Losing a pet (a friend, really) is tough. But I'm sure bdamomma made her life enjoyable.
Sorry for your loss, bdamomma.

I just had to make that painful, yet correct choice for my Tink in February. Kidney cancer in her case.
It rips you apart to lose a furry family member. Know you made the right decision and I'm sure Chloe appreciates you're putting her own better interest first.

Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you.....
I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.
