Any tenant rights specialists here?

Just moved out of a horrendous bedbug problem where the manager refused to treat until 3 months after the initial complaint. Even though several other tenants have shared their stories of bedbugs with us in the same building, the manager is beginning to blame us for having the problem and refusing to take any responsibility (with the exception of paying for two treatments) for the hundreds of dollars worth of property this issue has cost us. Although we moved out 5 days before the month was up, they decided that they did not want to prorate the rent we already paid and consider the rest of the month ours -which was fine by us because we wanted to use the remaining time to make finishing touches and clean places we might have missed during the moving weekend. For that purpose, we kept some ceaning supplies and other property inside the unit.

However, yesterday we received a text asking for permission to enter the unit for a fumigation which we consented. We also requested that they look at the unit and tell us what else needs to be done for us to clean. Instead, they entered the unit and began removing our property from the unit and sent us a text threatening to deduct from our deposit for the cleaning they have to do to the rest of the unit in preparation for showing the place to a prospective tenant 3 days before the month is up, which means it is technically still our unit. Should they be doing this?

Any suggestions?

until midnight on Sunday, they can expect a bill for the property they stole.

Honestly, keep copies of all this texting and make them take you to small claims court. The judge will laugh them out.
