http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19294701/friend-flushes-baseball-fan-remains-ballpark-toiletsNEW YORK -- A New York City man is on a mission to flush the cremated remains of his lifelong friend -- a plumber -- down ballpark toilets around the country.
Tom McDonald tells The New York Times that it's a fitting tribute for Roy Riegel.
"I know people might think it's weird, and if it were anyone else's ashes, I'd agree," McDonald said. "But for Roy, this is the perfect tribute to a plumber and a baseball fan and just a brilliant, wild guy."

(3,734 posts)1. Sounds like Roy was a guy with a wicked sense of humor. And it sounds
like his friend is going to a lot of trouble to honor his request! And now I get to use this smilie....

I understand the queues for those things can be interminable. Maybe he sneaks in when they're not playing a game?

(30,656 posts)6. At least Steve Goodman
didn't get flushed down the toilet at Wrigley Field. Some of his ashes were sprinkled near the ivy, and some placed under home plate. The story was not told until a few years later.
I hope he was somewhere watching the World Series last fall.
RIP, Cubs Fan Steve.
