Divine Love, guide the hearts, minds and hands of the medical personel as they work to bring shenmue's blood flow as was intended. Fill her with a sense of peace and joy taking away any anxiety as the time comes for this surgery. Amen.

When I worked post op, we called this roto router. That's the name, gets the blood flowing to your brain. Please try to keep calm and not worry about the surgery. Well as much as you can. Just follow the post op orders and you will be home in no time.

With the technology today you will do fine. Scary, I know, but keep good thoughts.

In the last 3 years I have been through an implant for peritoneal dialysis, a kidney transplant, a reversal of the peritoneal shunt, a parathyroidectomy, an ilesostomy due to divirticlitis, and takedown (reversal) three months later to reattach my colon. Every event was scary as hell, but the quality of the doctors I have made it easier to tamp down the panic.

On another note, three of my surgeons were women, and one was Japanese.. I have an Indonesian nephrologist and an Indian nephrologist. Any mention of keeping ours borders closed hits very close to home with this woman.

Immigrants. Indian oncologist. Asian radiologist. Russian General Practice and a surgeon that is second generation. All top notch people, the best. (Trumpian hyperbole)

I too wonder about that. When I see doctors they are mostly immigrants. The partners in the practice are immigrants. Lots of Indian heritage. Not many white people.

Take it from one who almost died from arterial blockage and escaped by hours from what would probably have been a fatal coronary (the surgeon called me "the luckiest man in Europe" that day--and that was 13 years ago).

They know how to handle this kind of thing these days. Just don't eat any cheese, butter, red meat or ice cream in the meantime!

Take it easy until then, and you are hereby obligated to come tell us all about it on the flip side, OK?

but they've gotten progressively better at carotid endarterectomies over the years.

Start practicing now for the lies you'll tell people about your scar.

It always sounds so scary, but the procedure is not complex and you will do fine.

I understand how unsettling this must be for you. It's a good thing that this situation was found when there was an opportunity to take corrective action. That is a positive thing.

We will be here when you return to the Lounge. Please let us know how you are doing when you are up to it.
