....I grew up in Inglewood/Hawthorne area in the 1950's. My dad owned and operated a Texaco service station on the corner of Florence and Eucalyptus in Inglewood. Back when gas stations did more than just pump gas, they actually serviced your car. The most recent incarnation was a Western Auto. I'm not sure what is in that location now. I haven't been back in decades.

We used to pass Inglewood Park Cemetery on the way to the station all the time. Beautiful grounds and maseoleum; my parents are buried there. I remember when Randy's was the "Big Donut", my sister worked there one summer. You could see it for miles, like a beacon. Great donuts....good memories. Thanks for posting.

I always enjoy strolling through Inglewood Park Cemetery to pay respect to my wife's relatives buried there. Such a tranquil setting for reflection.

Wish I could have tried "Big Donut" back in the day. Sounds awesome!

Best I can figure, the Endeavor parked in front of Randy's Donuts for hours, waiting for darkness, to film the Toyota commercial of a pick-up truck pulling the Space Shuttle over the 405. Toyota's nickel, but Randy's Donuts is all the people remember. Dimes to donuts, they sold a lot of gut bombs that day, too.

together, lined the streets, to watch a space ship slowly inch it's way to it's final
resting place.
Nearly every dad must have taken time off to hold their young ones up as high as possible
or find a place on a roof top or tree branch, wearing homemade astronaut outfits, to see something
from outer space go by in front of their eyes.

It was incredible and beautiful and for all the children of Los Angeles.

One time a guy tried to sell me "hot stereo equipement" out of the back of his van. Tells you what kind of city Inglewood is!

I drove past a lot of places on the freeways in LA. Sheesh! One has to take three freeways for 90 minutes to get anywhere in LA.

Glad to be home in Washington State, home of only the second-worst traffic in the US...

I enjoyed most of it. Lots of beautiful green scenery. The only part that sucked was Seattle. The traffic there was almost as bad as the 405 in LA!

It will soon be known for the big stadium being built as the home of the Rams and the Chargers.

Inglewood is a mixed bag. I spent time there in the late 80s as I dated a woman from there. Parts of Inglewood are very nice, parts are not. Racially mixed, but there was a lot of white flight, too. There was a beautiful black middle-class neighborhood with a great view of the South Bay that was in the flight path of LAX. Million dollar views, though.
