I got mad about a year ago when I saw a mayonnaise commercial where they mixed it with avocado to spread on toast. I swore then and there I would never submit to such hipster bullshit.

But now...now that the housing market is dying thanks to millenials and their avocado toast, I. must. have. it.

I'm thinking some nice hearty toasted bread, a few slices of avocado to cover, topped with salt and pepper. Simple.

delicious, healthy, no-cook food people throw together in preference to hitting a restaurant. Very down to earth no matter how it's being touted.

And for someone who's never had it, you're right on. I'll put all kinds of stuff on if I feel like it, but simple is fine food in its modest way. Like a good peanut butter sandwich.

I don't eat guacamole all that often.

I prefer to just halve the avocado, remove the pit, sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper and a touch of lemon, then spoon the stuff into my mouth straight from the shell.

And to stretch one little cado into a dinner, mix up a dressing of plenty of minced raw garlic, red pepper flakes, lemon and/or lime juice, and sesame oil. Then toss it with angel hair pasta that's been rinsed with tepid water to stop the cookingand drained, plus toasted sesame seed (black is fun but go white for friends who are hesitant to try new things) and the avocado in chunks. It can be dressed up with more greens or seafood, but no need. Also another very quick one for heading out to the porch with cold drink of choice on a warm evening. Yum!
