A friend sends articles to me in my email account.. So there was one there about Kansas governor Brownback..In my opinion a real jerk. It was a New York Times editorial discussing his failure as governor and belief in "trickle down economics..I decided to read that one.. Toward the end of the article was that word..."phantasmagorical"..a word I had never seen before..
..I am a more "mature".. citizen, and I have seen lots of words, but that one was new...here are the three meanings as defined by the google search engine.........
_________________________________________________________________________________________
1. having a fantastic or deceptive appearance, as something in a dream or created by the imagination. 2. having the appearance of an optical illusion, especially one produced by a magic lantern. 3. changing or shifting, as a scene made up of many elements

Here is a link to the editorial...so you can read the entire article....

Here are the last three paragraphs, where the word is included. (last sentence, first paragraph)
Mr. Brownback rode the Tea Party wave to the governors office in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. His tax cuts reduced rates and the number of brackets, and created special privileges for small businesses, much like President Trumps dodgy proposals. The governors plan was so phantasmagorical that it envisioned a march to zero goal of eventually eliminating income taxes.
Voters were the first to call the governors bluff, ousting more than a dozen of his legislative supporters in last years elections as punishment for damaged school services, potholed highways and near recession. The states gross domestic product grew just 0.2 percent last year, compared with 1.6 percent nationally. State school aid slipped from $4,400 per pupil to $3,800 in the Brownback years, with the poorest districts suffering the worst, according to court findings that the State Constitution was being violated.
Supply-side economics have been shopped by Republican politicians since the Ronald Reagan administration. My focus, Mr. Brownback foolishly promised, is to create a red-state model that allows the Republican ticket to say, See, weve got a different way, and it works. Instead, the model imploded. Voters should beware of any political huckster, including President Trump, who tries to sell it. It will take years for Kansas to recover, but Mr. Brownback, far from apologetic, remains trickle-downs Candide, noting how heartened he is by the Trump tax cut plan.

(6,261 posts)I was always a fan of Sierra games and the like, King's Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, etc. They were more than just fast-paced shoot'em-ups.

That was my all-time FAVORITE game EVER!!!!
I'd never even heard of it! I don't know how that escaped my attention, but I just downloaded it from abandonware and will see if it plays under dosbox.
I don't think I ever had as much sheer fun playing computer games as I did with these, now-dated-looking, puzzle games.

And, I can tell you, as an Art Historian, most of the information you learn in the museum is pretty accurate.
There's so many fun touches, like the "elevator music" in the elevator. Just such a rich atmosphere with just the right amount of thrills and chills. (For me, anyway).
