Simon & Garfunkel's America is another.
When I hear music like that used for commercials, my brain gets stuck on the shame of it and I don't even know what is being advertised.

His estate beneficiaries are trying to squeeze as much out of his legacy as they can. About the only one we will not see is the Doors because Densmore - much to Manzarek's dismay while he was alive - will not allow it.

"What I Like About You" was done by their management without their permission. They had to sue and the lawsuit prevented them from recording for a while. They eventually won.

They used an anti-Microsoft song (back when MS was deep in the digital rights land-grab) by a social-anarchist collective to promote a car. The group (Chumbawamba, which was far more interesting than the US single suggests) quite sensibly took the licensing money and used it to produce more anti-capitalist music, and support their socialist activities.

I've long wondered whether that was epic trolling by the ad agency, or sheer cluelessness.
