(3,569 posts)The band is one of the best bands touring. Susan, while not Derek, is no slouch on guitar and has an incredibly powerful voice. The rest of the band all get opportunities to soar, and they are all great players in their own right.
One thing I love is that they are keeping ticket prices low, allow taping, and they are allowing the various platforms host shows. YouTube has a ton of complete shows.
Be sure to get the live DVD, from the FOX in Oakland, it's pretty sweet. better yet, go see em this summer. they are seriously good. Derek is a GOD.

(3,569 posts)DVD. No worries on the pics, my interweb is constantly filled with D&C tour images. I'm hoping they return, in October or so, to the Bay Area. Seems like they didn't quite hit stride until later. The first Fenway show is the sizzle.

(937 posts)IMO, Bonnie Raitt, while still a great singer, is far less compelling after she went "pop" in the 1990s to "cash in"

(3,569 posts)The seventies version of Bonnie was something. Susan sounds a lot like her. I love both Bonnie's. She has to play so many songs that she can't get loose anymore. Still a great show. The first time I ever saw a chick get down on guitar (yes, in 1974 they WERE chicks) was Bonnie at a No Nukes event in SF at City Hall. Blew me away. And now, there are so many incredible guitar playing women now. Carolyn Wonderland is my favorite. She plays a lot like Derek (and Johnny Winter) too and sings like Janis. Bonnie kicked that door down, paving the way for women to take different roles in music.

(28,120 posts)Posted about Susan 13yrs ago but couldn't get anyone excited about her back then. If you've not heard her sing "It Hurts So Bad," you must.
Have never seen her in concert, only tv and YouTube clips. But I have seen Derek perform, yrs ago with Clapton. Great concert.
Btw, I think Clapton has finally stopped performing live. Good thing. He shouldn't spoil my memory of his talent. Very few people can perform into their 70s and 80s AND 90s as Tony Bennett has! He'll be 91 in Aug!
