I gave it a shot!

My art blog was a passion project that was part art therapy for myself and part experimentation with whether or not my work could be considered worthwhile to others.

But, it has languished. I never received any mail from it. The traffic only spiked whenever I posted it up on here or elsewhere. There's no following. I couldn't foster one.

So I guess this is it. I'm probably going to let it die. I'll find another way to express myself.

If anyone is interested in looking at it, you've got 15 days before it goes offline.

1. I'm sorry... Even though I'm horribly ignorant at deconstructing fine art

I would have paid more attention just to help out a fellow DUer... We gotta look out for one another.

Have you thought about taking it to twitter or instagram? And connecting with other art critics there?

3. I guess I'm not the social media type.

I asked others to share it on their feeds. Plenty said "sure thing!" And never did haha.

I did try emailing artists I admired as well. But maybe they were afraid of damaging their brand. I dunno!

2. I like what you do. I wish I could DO art but I can't so I write about great art...

Currently, I'm in a project to publish them in a book. I came late to being an art historian but I simply loved doing them. My dedicated goal was to have art become as loved by my readers as it was to me. A real value in my life.

4. Instagram in the place for artists like you nowadays. I started posting my paintings there

8 months ago after my spouse encouraged me to do so and now I have 225 followers who came out of nowhere to "like" my stuff.

I'm not tearing up the world but some notable art critics and famous celebrities have all liked and/or commented on my work.
It is all very encouraging.
Put all your stuff up there with hashtags and the people will come to you.

Only about 60.

10. Personally speaking...it's a very difficult blog to read.

That might be part of the problem. Simplicity is key. Let me know what I'm clicking on, give me a quick one or two sentence synopsis. Don't make me guess what's behind the whirling frisbee or the MC Escher-esque whatever-it-is. Plus, it was filled with ads which ad-blocker fills up with empty space. IMHO, it just is (wasn't) a very reader-friendly blog.

Good luck with your next iteration! I like the idea, I just think you had problems with the execution.

11. Ads? There are no ads.

And, being a visual art blog, I chose to let the images speak for themselves. They have descriptor tags to inform what kind of art it is.

Being a visual medium, that's as simple as I could make it.

I do wish the navigation were more obvious.
