Had to take a drug test and they had me fill out the w-2 and all provided the drug test and criminal check I start Monday.
Place will start me with 5 vacation days. Next January I will have 10 vacation days + 8 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday.
I am excited and nervous.
My nail are a wreck. Breaking off as well as bite them. I do use hard as nail stuff and I end up peeling off the polish from the nail.
Yes, I babble when I am nervous?
Anyone got advice or funny stories about their first day. My brain is on Trump overload...at the moment. When Rachel comes on I will be watching that.

Just be yourself. If you are a good person, it will show. And beware of dog eat dog types.

(7,911 posts)First day driving a pizza delivery truck, I backed the truck into the owner's Cadillac. I decided pizza delivery was not a career I wanted to pursue.
Many years late, got a really cool job in my engineering field working with lasers and computers and other exciting toys. First day on the job I came down with the flu and started puking my guts out in the optics lab, and had to go home early. The boss was understanding, and, after a few days of recovery, I went on to have a long and interesting career with that company.

(33,513 posts)They would not have hired you if they had a bad impression of you or if they thought you couldn't do the job.
Treat yourself with respect and treat your co-workers as you treat yourself, with respect, and you're going to have a wonderful experience.
Good luck!

(7,281 posts)In my twenties, cooking. Ask head cook if I can go smoke, he says no problem. I go out back in a little fenced in area where they spray the mats to clean them, sit down on a little concrete wall, finish my smoke and stand up right into 4x4's going across fence where they hang the mats. Top of the head meets 4x4 and I knock myself out. Wake up a little bit later confused, remember I am at my first day at work. I go back inside and ask the head cook how long I was gone, he says maybe 15 min. It could have been an hour as far as I knew, told him what happened and he laughed. So. Dont knock yourself out. lol.

(32,968 posts)Put away 15%....any raise or bonus, put it in there. You are not used to the size of that paycheck yet, you aren't likely to miss it.
As time goes on, compound interest is a very good thing.

(34,136 posts)Especially if the company matches your 401k contribution. Even with the 2009 crash, my husband's 401k from his job still grew to a tidy amount in only 14 years of working for the company. Originally they matched up to 10% of his pay - essentially a 10% raise! After the crash they dropped it to nothing, then brought it back at 5% a few years later. He still kept a regular contribution all the way through the crash even when the returns were not that good.
Check for the matching contribution and if they have one see if you can put enough in to maximize that. It is well worth it.

(35,658 posts)and here's a thought for you:
you will be introduced to many new people on your first day. Focus on associating their name with their face. I actually have to write it down because I'm so overly enthusiastic on the first day. But do that--focus on other people--and it will help you later on, as you'll need to get those people to work with you.

I used to have an article that I gave new hires I had placed years ago. It was full of good advice on do's and don'ts for the first 6 weeks on the job. I can't lay my hands on it at the moment, but a ton of articles came up from good sources when I googled.

(816 posts)Company refill ink and toner cartridges f o r printer and other devices. They resell the product. I will get the order get it sent to right warehouse to get it filled. Making sure it gets to customer. Lots of follow thru. If it is delayed my job to let customer know why and when to expect it. I will basically be involved from start to finish of the order not just inputting the order in.
