Sun Devil Stadium (Arizona State, Arizona Cardinals) -- I also saw the first BCS Championship there between Tennessee and Florida State (my aunt was both a Tennessee/Arizona State alumni). Also when wildfires struck San Diego I saw a free game there between the Chargers & Dolphins. LT & Ricky Williams. On edit - I liked the stadium better when it was a 70,000+ stadium "the house of heat" than its current renovations and ugly insurance and bank buildings in the view where they tore out the seats.
Talking Stick Arena (used to be America West Arena - Phoenix Suns, Arizona Rattlers, & Phoenix Coyotes)
CenturyLink Field (Seattle)

That's about it.

On edit -- Ive been to Bank One ballpark or Chase Field but I couldn't care less about the Dbags.

Dodger Stadium to see my Reds as a 8th grader (yes it was a hostile crowd around me, but I held my banner proudly)

Riverfront Stadium to see my Reds

Wrigley Field to see the Cubs

Adelphia Coliseum to see the Tennessee Titans

I just realized I have never purchased a ticket to a pro game in any sport. All were purchased by my dad except the Titans which was paid for by my company. My last Wrigley game was in the 80s when I was in college. Saw the Titans in the 90s. My football tickets were supplied as part of my activity fee at Purdue. I did purchase some tickets to sports at our regional university, but that was to see my kids perform when they were young (dance and cheerleading).

I have no desire to attend any sporting event.

Wherever the Cincinnati Reds played in the late 60s - my first ball game ever. I was in first grade and didn't understand it really but I got a hot dog and a free bat and a day with my dad.

Then nothing until moving to Dallas and saw the Cowboys whip the Eagles at Texas Stadium. Roger Staubach with one of his many come-from-behind victories.
Arlington stadium for the Rangers (Not the new Ballpark they have now - the old one with 4 dollar bleacher seats and cheap hot dogs.)
Saw many games at both those stadiums before moving to Florida.

Been to the stadium where the Jaguars play but it was for the ACC championship game where Florida State whipped up on Virginia Tech. (VT Later returned the favor).

Saw Pink Floyd at the old Sombrero where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used to play and have seen the Bucs play a few games in their newer Raymond James Stadium. (Always against Dallas and Dallas always won. *fist pump*).

Have been to a couple Miami Dolphins games and a couple huge blood drives at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Have been to Reunion Arena in Dallas for many concerts but never a basketball game.
Been to Orlando Arena (Old and new - I think it's named after that idiot soap huckster now) for both concerts and Magic games.
Daytona Beach Civic center, Charlotte Coliseum, American Airlines Arena (Home of the Miami Heat but I was there for an Iron Maiden show)

And I'll be adding the Denver stadium in September - going to hopefully watch my beloved Cowboys beat the home team there and try to make it out alive with my throwback Tony Dorsett jersey intact.

I guess the Citrus Bowl which was the Tangerine Bowl and is now called something else here in Orlando is a place where professional somethings play something. I've been there for Metallica and some UCF games.

Aug 2017

My parents and i used to go on short vacations to see the Cubs play somewhere other than Wrigley. I saw the Reds and Cubs at Crosley around 1967 or 1968. Not long after that, they opened Riverfront. That was the same time period where StL, Philly, and Pittsburgh all went to that round beheamoth dual purpose idea. All four of those stadiums were nearly identical.

I saw a Bears/Bengals game at Riverfront because i had some acquaintances from P&G who had tickets, and i was going to be in Cincinnati on Monday for R&D meetings. I went a day early and went to the football game with those guys.

Never saw a Reds/Cubs game at that place though.

On Edit: I see you saw a concert at the Sombrero. I saw Zeppelin there back in (i think) '75. I was still in college so it couldn't have been after '76.

I've seen Page, Plant and Jones in various configurations but never saw the whole Led Zeppelin live. If you saw the whole show before 76 it was probably May 5th, 1973. I think the only other time they played Tampa stadium was in 77 and that show was cancelled after about 3 songs. It started pouring down rain and after about 45 minutes it cleared up but the announcer came on and said the show was cancelled. They intended to reschedule for the next day but the crowd riot was so intense they never did.

I have a bootleg of the show in Mobile, AL 8 days after yours. Here's a little taste of yours:

Not the worst audience recording I've heard lol. You guys set an attendance record at the time I think!

Royals Stadium a lot when I was a kid, and our quick vacation was a trip to Kansas City to see them play because my brother liked them (it was pure torture for me).

And now that I live in Kansas City, Chiefs Stadium - but never to watch the Chiefs play but to twist balloons for events or to decorate with balloons for other events.

Both are monumental wastes of space and money as are all sports stadiums.

25. See how many I can remember
Wed Aug 2, 2017, 05:00 PM
Aug 2017

I'm from Miami but I went to college in California so that gave me a geographical edge to pick off many of these. Others are from summer trips as a kid with my parents, or more recently as a wandering adult:

* Orange Bowl
* Joe Robbie Garbage Bland Sterile Now-Contrived Irrelevant Location Whatever They Call It Now Bowl
* Lockhart Stadium (Ft Lauderdale Strikers)
* Miami Arena (Heat)
* American Airlines Arena (Heat)
* Tampa Bay
* Jacksonville Jaguars
* RFK Stadium
* Atlanta Fulton County
* Omni
* Shea Stadium
* Madison Square Garden
* Soldier Field
* Fenway Park

* Comiskey
* Tiger Stadium
* Milwaukee Brewers
* Candlestick Park
* Oakland Alameda
* Dodger Stadium
* Big A Stadium
* Los Angeles Coliseum
* Sports Arena
* Fabulous Forum
* Qualcomm Stadium
* San Diego Sports Arena
* Sun Devil Stadium (Cardinals NFL played there)
* Olympic Stadium Montreal
* SkyDome (Toronto)
* Winnipeg Blue Bombers Stadium
* BC Place Stadium (Vancouver)

I've attended games at those stadiums. Many others I've visited during trips but not seen a game. Those include:

* Lambeau Field
* Cowboys Stadium
* Superdome
* University of Phoenix (Cardinals)
* Heinz Field
* Wembley Stadium
* Munich Olympic Stadium

The college stadiums where I have seen a game are too many to list. I try to add at least two new ones every fall. This year I am finally making it to Duke on Friday, September 29th when the Canes visit, and then the next day not too far away I'll see my first game at East Carolina as South Florida visits. Then I might pick off another game the following Saturday in that region. I've been trying to figure it out.

On edit: Oh yeah, Thomas and Mack after seeing another list. I left that out because I'm not sure it qualifies as a pro stadium although Tarkanian in his heyday wasn't shy with purchases, so to speak. I heard plenty of those stories from oldtime UNLV donors in the 25 years I lived in Las Vegas. Amazing how they were willing to spit out all the details on high schoolers they lured decades earlier, including specific dollar amount required and other perks, like new cars for family members.

Always nice to see packed stands:

Kaline's corner in right field. Only a fool would attempt to tag up on third on a right field fly ball when Al Kaline was playing right field. He could throw a strike at the plate from the right field wall and did so when runners would try to tag up. What an arm! Seeing him play was wonderful.

Witnessing a Norm Cash home run that tops the third deck in right field is a special thing to witness as well.

33. Horse racing is a tough racket to beat
Wed Aug 2, 2017, 11:41 PM
Aug 2017

The parimutuel take is 17% or higher compared to sports wagering where the break even point is a considerably more manageable 52.4%

In Las Vegas I softened the horse racing disadvantage by eventually wagering on matchups only. That's where you merely wager on one horse to defeat another. Doesn't matter if they finish last and next to last you can still collect. The odds on that is like sports, with low juice.

Unfortunately you can't find those odds at the track, only at casinos or online casinos. For horse racing to survive many people think it has to change the way it thinks in regard to wagering. The younger types will not accept parimutuel only. The Stronach Group that now operates many of the major tracks -- including Pimlico where the Preakness is contested -- now has a woman in charge who seems to understand the need to modernize the wagering realities.

I wish I could have visited Bay Meadows before it closed. Maybe Golden Gate someday. I've done all the tourist stuff in the San Francisco area but I can't say I remember even contemplating those stops.
