Has anyone noticed that Elmer's Glue doesn't taste like it did years ago?

Why did they change the flavor?

Same thing with Crayola crayons. They taste a lot waxier than they did back in the 60's.

1. To prevent children from eating it?

(The true gourmet doesn't sniff glue. He eats it.)

2. My Chemistry class in HS had a bottle of Toulene sitting out.

Big mistake. Toulene is why you sniff glue.

This was in the early 70's.

6. I was big into model building as a kid.

But I absolutely HATED the smell of glue, ESPECIALLY toluene. Just thinking about it now makes me want to barf.

It still boggles my mind that people want to sniff that shit, let alone to the point that they get addicted to it.

3. Yes

I found the old Elmer's Glue "had a nice, piquant after-diner flavor-heavy, but with a touch of mellow smoothness."

11. Seems like I remember it has a wintergreen taste and smell.

What kid hasn't snuck a taste or two of their paste?

14. Yes, good ol' paste.

We used it to cleanse our palates after a finger dip of Vick's Vapor Rub.

5. Lead paint chips don't have the "bite" they used to.

At least, I think they don't. I don't remember.

9. I always preferred Whippets!

SWIM also frequently found discharged cans of whipped cream in the walk-in coolers...

13. You can loosen it with some air duster

But I hear that doesn't taste the same as it used to either.
