(1,823 posts)I had a friend with one who loved to snuggle up under the covers and sleep next to me. Big floppy sweethearts. Fantastic cats.

However, it's hilarious to hear a 20+ pound tomcat squeak because he wants a lap and some scritches.
They'd make trails through deep snow back in New England. All you could see is the tip of the tail floof above the snow.

(20,868 posts)He had the meow of a kitten and the heart of a lion.
He was an outdoor cat that loved water. He was one of my favorite cats of all time but not everyone liked him as he could be quite the pest that killed anything that got in his way!
His name was Mr. Holmes as in Sherlock. I still miss him & wish he was around today to deal with the moles that have taken over my back yard.

I think he is actually a Norwegian Forest Cat, but the breed is very similar to and may be the ancestors of Maine Coons because they traveled with the Vikings and some might have wound up in the new world hundreds of years ago.

(7,754 posts)devastated when he died it took us many years to get another cat but this time we got a Norwegian Forest cat just like the one above and it turns out he is just as wonderful and just as loving and has that same incredible temperament that these huge cats seem to possess. We love them so much.

I keep hoping she'll get inspired. But I guess I just have to accept the fact I have a cat (who I love dearly) that just has no ambition but to sleep and eat.

(4,492 posts)She was born a barn cat but looks like one of the stock photos on Wiki for Norwegian Forest. Sweet cat, but a very faint meow.
THe last kitty that owned me was a loudmouth. I forever regret not recording that long, loud meow (would have made a great ringtone).
