At first google maps had me go way up and around. Doesn't make much sense. What local raod would you take to get through on a sunday afternoon. I have to drive. Thanks.

OK, I'm in Philly -- others may know the NYC area better. But rogerashton Aug 2017 #1
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Hoping to get advice about Baltimore..... lindysalsagal Aug 2017 #2
I suggest taking 95 to 695, then 83 south, get off exit 7 marylandblue Aug 2017 #3

driving to/from New England I usually use the Tappan Zee bridge. I know there is construction on for a new bridge, and that my complicate things -- check a local source. On the west side of the TZB, there are options. Probably the most direct is to pick up the Garden State Parkway south to I95, the NJ turnpike. The route I would take is a little more back-roadish but maybe less congested. I would take 287 to Somerville-Raritan, (287 can be quite congested at drive time) then US 202 to Lambertville, local route 29 to I95 at Trenton. OK, full disclosure, it has been a few years.

I suspect it is worthwhile going around the bush to avoid driving thru New York, anyway.

On edit -- I 287 not 285.

I am not all that familiar Baltimore, but the few times I've driven on city streets it's been slow-going, so I stick to the interstates as much as possible, even if it looks longer on the map.
