(4,384 posts)Finally saw the the capital building at night. Very impressive. I've seen a lot of DC, but there is always something you miss. If it is still warm out, I'd suggest seeing the monuments at night with almost no people and no crowd fatigue.

(512 posts)My best friend and I drove up from Tennessee for the Stewart/Colbert rally at the mall. It was incredible. Surrounded by people that have the same thoughts on politics as we do was wonderful. We live in a very red area and aren't used to feeling all of the love that we felt from the other attendees that weekend. The best part of the weekend was when we were in front of the White House and it was lit up orange (it was Halloween) and we suddenly hear helicopters overhead. Holy shit. It was Marine One with the best POTUS ever on board. He was coming in from a speech and had to pass out the candy to the kids. We were laughing and taking pictures and waving like damn idiots. Everyone there was so excited and we all started hugging each other.
If they ever have another rally like that I would suggest you to go if possible. Not only were the speeches great by Stewart/Colbert, the music acts were awesome too. We saw Cat Stevens, The Roots, The O'Jays, Cheryl Crow, Ozzy Osborne, John Legend, Mavis Staples and Tony Bennett just to name a few. Best weekend in a long time.

(4,384 posts)Yes it is wonderful. I just saw Roger Waters and it felt like a rally for resistors. Really good show.
