I know I've heard a lot of music from this year, but somehow couldn't name a single one. So, thanks. I will look up the titles that everyone singles out.

Tequila - because of the movie.
Purple People Eater - Sheb Wooley because it is funny, especially to a kid.
Get a Job - Silhouettes
Chantilly Lace - The Big Bopper
March from the River Kwai and Colonel Bogey - Mitch Miller
Some I came to appreciate later:
Fever - Peggy Lee
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry

Beautiful melody, excellent singers.

Honorable mention:
At the Hop, Danny and the Juniors
It's almost impossible to sing it, but Danny manages it effortlessly.

It was huge the summer of 1958, in US and Europe.
I was doing the grand tour of Europe with my college roommate and "Volare" was blaring wherever we stopped, in whatever country.

21. Just saw this thread. And you've definitely picked the best 1958 had to offer.

These girls could really sing. And convey feeling. This isn't just a song about puppy love, the heartache is well brought out.
First time I heard it I was maybe six y.o. Haven't heard it in decades until I played it here but it survives the test of time.
Great sax work as well.

Hi,

The song was published in 1957, Perry Como recorded it late in the year & it was a hit in 1958.

Magic Moments, still a fun song.
