would any work on this dent? It's 2012 Honda Civic, should I just get an estimate from a dent removal place or just cover it up with a sticker, how much do those shops typically run? any way it can be popped out to make it look less noticeable? could I bang it out myself? could anyone recommend a sticker to cover it with? not planning on selling the car anytime soon, I'll probably drive it until it dies and doesn't have much mileage on it now, would a hair dryer and a can of compressed air work?

(20,854 posts)There is a place called Same Day Scratch & Dent repair and they come to your house and work your car over good for a couple of hrs.
One was a dent on the back of the trunk (was told by Honda it was a major fix -- they had it knocked out in a couple of minutes) and the other was on the door. The door was keyed while I was in the store and it left a long 12" deep scratch on the door. Was told that would be $600 to fix.
This Same Day Scratch & Dent repair place charged me $200 to go over the entire car and it looks great! It is a 2002 Accord and it has 50K on it and like you, I don't plan to sell it anytime soon (if ever!).
It really pays to shop around and you might check to see if they have such a service such as the one I describe where you live.
Best of luck!

(4,033 posts)boiling water and pouring it directly on the dent, then doing same with cold water. We did it on a back fender and to our amazement, it popped right out! Doesn't fix a scratch, but the large dent was gone.

(62,342 posts)never tried them myself, so i have no idea if they work.
One was a simple bathroom plunger - although it doesn't look like it would work around a corner.
The other was to put the car in the hot sun and then rub some dry ice over the dent. Sort of the hot/cold treatment mentioned earlier.
