I think I injured my eyes - everything since the eclipse looks so BOOOORRRING!!! anyone else

having post-eclipse let-down? It was one of those peak experiences, fer sure. Not only the spectacle itself, but all the wild and crazy interactions with people from various parts of the world and every walk of life as we were driving all over so. Illinois looking for the perfect clear sky on Eclipse Day. Im sure some or all of those so. Illinois folks were Trump fans... but for a few precious hours... it didnt frikkin matter.

was wearing a Trump-Pence shirt, even though his license plate was from Maryland. Except for that shirt, he actually looked a bit counter-culture. That's what you get for trying to judge a book by the cover.

Anyway, he and his family were pleasant to speak with, and I took some comfort in the fact that at least one GOP'er is at least slightly interested in science.

And it was an amazing thing to see, we got about 40 seconds of totality. It was a great relief that the clouds between us and the sun parted long enough to experience the whole thing, it had been pouring rain like crazy in mid-morning.
