Hurricane aftermath

Last edited Tue Sep 12, 2017, 10:40 PM - Edit history (1)

I have some relatives in Pasco County, Florida. I have been trying to call them with no luck. Any advice on how to get in touch with them another way?

I want to express my sincere appreciation to all of the people that have replied to my original post. They have been most helpful.

Maybe your family evacuated. Is it possible they have email, or you can text them? Also, they have a curfew enacted.

and the area will most likely be without power for another ten days, that's the estimate. They've promised a lot of the east coast power by Sunday night, which seems a little optimistic. I don't know what to tell you about cell service, especially with no way to charge the phones.

My dad had a land line in 2004, when multiple hurricanes came through. The land line was still functional but he was without power for 22 days.

copper wire and the resulting reliable service goodbye. They will pry my copper wire phones out of my cold, dead hands, but they will get them eventually.

only because they got all the pay phones. I resent the hell out of that. They're expensive and unreliable and an expense I just don't need, but it's the only way to call for a hook if the car dies under me.

If they have a landline phone, perhaps that might work.

I have family in the Keys and I haven't heard from them.

My phone signal is shit right now. No power, but I've got internet (generator).

Don't be surprised if you can't reach anyone for a week or so. Just be patient and try not to worry.
