DECATUR — Alabama Music Hall of Fame inductee, producer, engineer and musician, Johnny Sandlin, has died.

He was 72.

Sandlin has produced albums by Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers Band, Wet Willie, Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Gregg Allman, Chuck Leavell, The Decoys, Microwave Dave and The Nukes, Delbert McClinton, Dan Penn, Cowboy, Jerry Reed, Elvin Bishop, Jimmy Hall and many others.

"He was my best friend in the world," Shoals songwriter/guitarist Scott Boyer said, trying to hold back tears.
