I have avoided people as painting/drawing subjects (I tend to avoid them in general) because it's really hard to get all the proportions right and to make the eyes point in the same direction. I consider this painting to be only semi-successful but I'll try again sometime.

You worked and highlights and shadows well. And you caught a mood, or maybe you created it. It’s not easy to paint a likeness from a photograph but I imagine you did a good job recreating the photograph.

Your colors are rich and luxurious as always and make your lady look lovely and dynamic. The cat is there to tell a story as you depict in the lady reaching out to pet it. So there’s a story there which always makes artwork more interesting.

Your lady and the cat are well done and can simply be something you added in an abstract way, out of your head rather than a model or real person.

I like it a lot.

You nailed it! When I try to draw/paint humans they look like they were done by a 4-year old! Such talent! I'm supremely jealous!

The textures are great, I feel like I could touch the sofa and it would feel velvety. I could pull a book from the shelf and the cat would look around to see which I’d selected then show no further inrtest.

Your light, composition, and rendering are wonderful. I’m not nearly brave enough to try painting people yet.
