I’m still on the fence about using the flower one. Was supposed to be delicate and airy, but constant fiddling put an end to that. Lol Damned perfectionism!

to learn simple washes can do it. I see kids in art class all the time throwing color down with zero training and making lovely things.

Did you copy the artwork to Photoshop so you can reproduce these? I'm taking a Photoshop class right now and I'm discovering so many possibilities that I can pursue in my ever-approaching (never-fast-enough) retirement. Oh HOW I wish I could draw like that! And watercolor like that! Lovely! Thank you for sharing!

time playing w color. You should give it a try. It can be a lot of fun when it’s going well. Lol

I only have this one pic of them. I’m ok with them being originals, I think, especially since some were painted with specific recipients in mind.

But if I can't draw, I don't know how I'll get things to look like they are supposed to be. I'm sure my birds will come out looking like dinosaurs or cows, for example. But I've asked Santa for a contraption to help me capture a 3D image to paper with pencil. Maybe I'll get started on that after the new year. Any suggestions where I could learn some beginning principles to watercolor? Most stuff I look at is pretty advanced and I know almost nothing about visual art. It's only in the last couple of years I've had any interest in visual art, I'm embarrassed to say.

I want to come out right. YouTube is chock full of how to beginner watercolor lessons. Facebook, too. Start simple. Learn water control: paper, palette, brush, then get to know your pigments. Watercolorists are artists, physicists, and chemists. Not everything will mix well. As far as drawing, stay whimsical. You can’t get that wrong as a whimsical watercolor google search will show!

Editing to add I am the daughter of an art teacher and photographer and I refused to do art in case I was the bad one in the family. I came to it very late in life as well.
