This little tribute has been very well put together, capturing the particular magic that existed between Jeaneete MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.
Jeanette died fifty years ago in January, followed by Nelson just two years later (and I, for one, don't believe it was coincidence that he didn't survive her for long). But their films and yes, I believe their love affair are immortal.

How startling to see the color footage of both of them. And that chemistry -- either you have it or you don't, and they did.

(6,384 posts)to see if there was anything I'd like to record, and up came "Rose Marie". Probably Howard Keel and Ann Blyth again, I thought, then something made me go back and click on it to see the cast. Nelson and Jeanette, first time in at least a year!
It will be recorded. I have it on old video, but not DVD.

(16,984 posts)...and found absolutely no Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald, just her pairings with other men (e.g., the Lubitsch productions with Maurice Chevalier). It's not clear how I'm ever going to get caught up, unless someone somewhere has versions I can upload to my Kindle.

(6,384 posts)I think they have only Phantom of the Opera with Nelson, and it's certainly not my favourite. Nothing at all with Jeanette.
They're available on Amazon, at a third of the price we'd pay here if they were available, and I've dropped many hints to my family at Christmas, but they're oblivious.
Guess I'm going to have to order them myself I have all the videos, but they degrade with time. I'd like to have something more permanent.
