Please not Elvis, though. And forget Arthur Godfrey, too.

Start with Harvey. Jimmy Stewart at his best as the innocent (and delusional???) tippler. Josephine Hull turns in a helluva great performance. And then there's Harvey himself. You never see him in the film other than in a painting, but Harvey's imprint is all over it. For instance, "What is a pooka?"


An absolute pleasure. Harvey is a must see.

To Be or not To Be. Worthwhile if only for Carole Lombard. Well, there's also Jack Benny. However Carole shines here. A minor, guilty pleasure gem.

Brief Encounter. A somewhat sudsy film. However, both Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard pull it off. David Lean's steady direction helps, but the players take the stage here. It's been a very long time since I've viewed this one.
