2. I'll go out a limb and say it's the equal of Southeastern

Which I would NOT say lightly.

The last two songs, and especially the last one Miles might just put over the top.

Miles may be my favorite song of the past 5 years, no joke. And I listen to a lot of new stuff. Granted, it's basically Neil Young + Tom Petty + Beatles, but ... it's just great.

3. Favorite song of the last 5 years by anyone, or by Jason Isbell?

It is a great song. I hear Neil Young, mostly, and the Beatles.

As did Rolling Stone: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-album-reviews/jason-isbell-weathervanes-1234764772/

But the strongest songs here have the fewest answers. “Miles” shows how family dysfunction happens with the best of intentions, as the 400 Unit flash its classic rock bonafides, with the guitars echoing both latter-day Beatles and Young’s tender murder ballad “Down by the River.” The nostalgic prettiness might strike some as a Band-Aid on a bullet hole. But you take your healing where you can get it.

And at Al.com -you'd probably like this article - they heard the Byrds as well: https://www.al.com/life/2023/06/the-story-behind-jason-isbells-surprising-new-album-and-new-touring-musicians.html

The album ends with “Miles,” a seven-minute swayer that sounds like Neil Young and Crazy Horse being swarmed by The Byrds and eventually Ringo Starr tom-tom fills. “Miles” is one of Gamble’s favorite tracks on the album. In the studio, they set up two different drumkits, one with a bigger sound and one tighter. On “Miles,” Gamble laid down the basic track on one kit and added his Ringo fills on the other later.

5. I also hear a Zeppelin-ish lick in one part

And a touch of Pink Floyd.

And afa the Beatles goes it's not just the drumming, there's a TOTAL George guitar lick in there, and overall I think the production is reminiscent of Abbey Road.

Yeah, no ... period. Not saying it's the greatest song in 5 years, just my favorite one

This order certainly plays well for a live audience and isn't terribly off from the theme of your ordering:

Save the World
Vestavia Hills
This Ain't it
Strawberry Woman
King of Oklahoma
If you insist
Middle of the Morning
Volunteer
White Beretta
Death Wish
Cast Iron
Miles

Pseudo-Encore:
24 Frames
Cover Me Up

6. Once the setlists start coming out I'll make a playlist

of all the songs (old and new), in the order he plays them

I love Vestavia Hills, maybe my 2nd fave after Miles. Even though it's straight up Eagles as I said earlier I think Henley would've been proud of it had he wrote it.

One of the reviews I read said Middle of the Morning was like a mashup of Midnight Rider + Into the Mystic and I thought that's exactly what it is lol. Another great track.

They're all good really.

about the obvious influences. It would be difficult to find better influences than classic rock, considering what those artists achieved.

The classics...
