(8,709 posts)because I'm afraid he'll be forgotten. Let's Start 2 Dance, and the following is just a short version of what I danced to, is the longest playing dance song of all time as of 2014. James Brown told Bohannon, "The greatness is that there are only two with rhythms that nobody has that our rhythms are not alike but different, and strong like nobody else." If we veer into House music in this OP, Bohannon is where House starts - pure dance trance.
As of 2017, seems like kids haven't forgotten Bohannon. Love it

(4,604 posts)I'll go with this one, due to a specific good memory
Came out of a stadium after a concert and had lost my friends somewhere at some point (it was a Dead show, so ?? I think we had all just wandered off, lol).
As soon as I hit the parking lot, there was a school bus with giant speakers and disco lights cranking Le Freak. I joined at least 50 other people dancing. It was great fun and I think of it every time I hear this song. Tripping hippies + disco is a winning combination.

(8,709 posts)In my youth, I was totally disappointed by one of my fine arts teacher, a hippy just a generation or so before us teens in high school, we adored him. But he hated disco with a passion. In classes, it was clearly his quest for us to negate the fusion of soul, funk and disco of my era. That's when I knew how dead inside he was. Music changes, it morphs and speaks to generations who he had no awareness of or cared to know sitting right in front of him.
In my college years, specifically Le Freak was what we looked forward to specifically after midterms and finals. I see them. I see us now so clearly, singing "I said freak!," which was our anthem for release from the pressure, while dancing at our favorite clubs.
All that pressure got you down
Has your head spinning all around
Feel the rhythm, check the rhyme
Come on along and have a real good time
Like the days of stopping at the Savoy
Now we freak, oh what a joy

Who needs to think when your feet just go?
With a hippie-the-hip and a hippie-the-hop
Who needs to think when your feet just go
"Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon"
Who needs to think when your feet just go
"Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon"

(8,709 posts)a little while ago. Seems like full circle seeing Nile Rogers, with his gorgeous locs, of Le Freak from long ago who co-wrote Daft Punk's Loose Yourself to Dance and, of course, Get Lucky.
I'll stop but still jamming, ihaveaquestion
