...and move to someplace outside of L.A. if I wanna live another 10-20 years.

Beyond that I might as well be immortal.

BTW, I recommend just getting wasted AT home ... then you won't have this problem.

That's what I do, anyways

On the final version, they left out the organ and all the conflicting guitars, which was far more effective.

Back when I was in the studio a lot, this is often what happens when someone gets an idea for a song. They lay down the scratch track, and use it as a basis to refine it until the band is happy with the final version.

The electric one remained unreleased until the Deluxe Edition Remaster of Blind Faith in the early 00s.

The acoustic version is more polished as they actually finished the mix/master, but it’s a totally different recording from the electric version.

They left the scratch track as it was, and overdubbed the hell out of it. Notice they didn't even finish the lyrics on the electric version, they were just testing the waters. They then decided to do the song over--to much better musical effect, and with completed lyrics.

I thought I had read somewhere that they abandoned the electric version after completing everything but vocals. Turns out it was just a jam session that got recorded (which is what a LOT of the sessions for that album were).

I’m a recording engineer, I know what scratch tracks are, I just had it all backwards in my head on the genesis of this song.

I've been in and out of recording studios for nearly 50 years, but never went into music professionally. Though it is one of my great passions, it was not the one that promised to put the most food on the table.

I work in a professional studio, but still have to supplement my income by working in a music store and doing instrument repairs on the side.

That stopped when my top brass informed me that there was no longer such a thing as spare time, and that was 40 years ago.
